FIRST TEAM REPORT
South 0 - 1 East Villa 14/8/10 League
South lost their opening day fixture against East Villa with Peter Gannon getting the all important strike as early as the 7th minute. South had chances in teh middle of the half but couldnt convert them. Our best chance on the hour saw Tony Sayer go close with a far post header but after that East Villa closed the game out effectively.
South 3 - 4 Waterloo Dock 17/8/10 League
South led the champions 3-2 with fifteen minutes to go with goals by Ross Kennedy (pen) and a brace from Paul Mutch, However Dock equalised through a penalty from Paul Ryder and Thomas Rooney scored the winner and complete his hat trick and leave South with nothing.
South 1 - 1 Lucas Sports 21/8/10 League
Souths third home game on the run was the most disappointing with a poor first half performance seeing them behind to Ryan Caldwells goal. A better second half display followed with an equaliser from Sean Wright, another product of South's youth team but we could not carve out a winner.
Sacre Coeur FP 2 - 2 South 24/8/10 League
South earned a draw up in the windy conditions out in Thornton against Sacre Coeur. Two excellent goals from Paul Parle and Gary Dunning saw us in the lead at half time. Against the wind in the second period we were always going to be defending and the home scored mid way in the half to share the points.
Essemay OB 1 - 5 South 28/8/10 League
South recorded their first win in controversial circumstances for the home side. The opening goal from Ross Kennedy had the home side claiming a foul on the keeper. Twenty minutes later Gary Dunning was felled in the box and the home keeper dimissed, Lee Poland stroked the penalty home. Chris Piercy made it three on the half hour and Ross Kennedy made it four before the break as the extra man and windy conditions took their toll. Ex South man Kenny Burgess bundle dteh ball home early in the second period to reduce the deficit but South re-asserted their four goal margin when Paul Parle finished off a good move on the hour mark.
